Kaos Films
About Us
Kaos Films at its heart has a commercial vision and a global outlook.
From the outset Kaos Films wanted to offer opportunities to new voices whether it’s writers, directors or producers. To this end Kaos Films set up the British Short Screenplay Competition (BSSC) in 2001 to offer a platform to screenwriters - an opportunity that was not available at the time in UK. Dubbed as “the best and the most prestigious screenplay competition in the world” by Sir Kenneth Branagh, BSSC became internationally renowned for the only screenwriting competition in the world that not only promised but actually produced the winning script.
Kaos Films has produced nine multi-award winning films from these winning scripts over the eleven years of the competition. These films have played at over hundred international film festivals between them including Cannes, Venice, Stockholm, Krakow, Sitges, Valladolid, Rhode Island, Montreal, L.A. Palm Springs and many, many more. These films have been distributed by BBC, Film Four, Canal Plus and Channel nine Australia.
Kaos Films had a six year association with the National Film and Television School offering the top graduates of the school “a bridge into the industry”.
Kaos Films also set up and ran the John Brabourne Big 5 Award.
“The Big 5 Award is an incredible opportunity for a talented director to make their first professional film. It’s wonderful to see the film industry working together.” Lord Putnam.
Kaos Films produced ‘The Happiness Salesman’ with the winning director of The Big 5 Award.
Central to our ethos is to offer opportunities to new voices from across the world combining them with experienced creative talent to produce extraordinary original and commercial films for the international market.
